BOOK REVIEW / THE MADNESS UNDERNEATH BY MAUREEN JOHNSON

by Rosemary Sweigart

Maureen Johnson may be known for being an eccentric, entertaining Twitter personality, but her novels encompass a different side as the reader follows interesting and intelligent main characters through situations that seem to be impossible. In The Madness Underneath, a sequel to The Name of the Star, Rory Deveaux is faced with ghost hunters, Jack the Ripper murders, and starting over at a new school. The story continues as Rory is mixed up in even more mystery and secrets surrounding London and the events that actually lead to her connection with the supernatural world. It is an easy to read with dark themes that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.
